The north coast town of Portstewart, host of the Dubai Duty-Free Irish Open 2017, has a line up of ice cream shops along its popular promenade, including Morelli’s and Roughans. Be prepared to queue during summer months and once you have purchased a cone, tub or sundae, either sit inside or along the promenade, where views across the wild Atlantic Ocean and distant Donegal can be enjoyed.


The picturesque town of Kinsale in Co Cork is a perfect place to have an ice cream. After a day at the beach or a walk along the marina, pop into Sunday’s, an ice cream parlour that has gained a great reputation for its wonderful variety of flavours and tempting sundaes.

Dun Laoghaire
