Lisbon is a city with so much to offer for travelers, with stunning architecture spread across steep hillsides, amazing nightlife and a vibrant foodie scene making it an increasingly popular holiday destination for many, whether you’re looking for a short city break, or an extended holiday. One things that Lisbon offers in abundance is sporting options, with watersports and outdoor activities very popular across the city. When it comes to sport, Lisbon is perhaps most famous for it’s two local football sides – S.L. Benfica and Sporting Lisbon – these fierce rivals are two of Portugal’s most succesful football sides.
It’s not just football though that is played with a round ball in Lisbon, with futsal and handball both becoming increasingly popular in the city. We recently sent Stephanie from On The QT along to the city to watch local handball side Belenenses before sampling the atmosphere of a futsal game between city heaveyweights Benfica, and Modicus Sandim.
With the popular Web Summit leaving Irish shores to set up home in Lisbon from 2016, futsal and handball are just some of the activities you can enjoy on your stay if you’re planning a trip to this wonderful city.
