Hook Lighthouse has been guiding people along the Hook Peninsula for over 1000 years, with the existing structure in place for over 800 years, making it the oldest intact lighthouse in the world. Described as the “granddaddy of lighthouses” by Lonely Planet, travel to the very tip of Wexford’s coastline to marvel in this great piece of Irish history.
There are guided tours of the lighthouse, and for a view like no other in Wexford, climb the 115 steps to the tower at the top and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A drive along the Hook Peninsula should be completed by stopping off at Hook Head Lighthouse.
