Battle of The Boyne Site
One of the most famous wars in recent Irish history, the site of the Battle of The Boyne holds significant importance in Irish history, as it was here that William of Orange and King James battled over the Irish and English crown, with William ultimately coming out on top. This war is still celebrated across Ireland and indeed the world today, and the visitor centre on the 18th Century site at Oldbridge House tells the story of a war which saw some 1500 men lose their lives.
Set off on foot and explore the main areas where the battle took place or book on one of the guided tours which run throughout the year. There are also a number of interactive tours across the summer months with different people acting out some of the most important scenes of the battle.
